David Russell
David is a pastor, mentor, and student of leadership. He served 20 years in the U.S. Navy on submarines, and for more than 14 of those years he volunteered as a youth leader in congregations that did not have a youth minister. After the Navy came ministry, including a decade as a full-time pastor. He earned his undergraduate and masters degrees in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University, and a masters in Christian Ministry from Oklahoma Christian University.
He is also a builder of businesses. He founded Greater Than Consulting in 2019 and still runs it today, helping small businesses and churches with strategy, systems, and their online presence. He also started RV Shepherd, a certified RV inspection business, built it into a trusted name, and successfully exited it.
Whether the room is a congregation, a crew, or a company, David cares about the same things: organizational development, change management, and mentorship, and how good leadership serves the people it touches. Through Greater Than Consulting he puts that to work in practical ways, with business services that include website and app design, search engine optimization, ad campaigns, 360° virtual business tours, and business automation.
David lives in Vero Beach, Florida with his wife Shar. They have three grown children and are enjoying the grandparent season of life.
